Looking at the rundown on this one I'm eager to hear it. I liked those Men at Work records too and was surprised about a year ago to realize how much the first one sounds like what Dire Straits became at the same time. That's probably not so much anything in common in playing or composition so much as just massive compression on the recordings! But it was funny.
ReplyDeleteWow, I never made that connection before. Need to go back to hear the Men at Work stuff again. I remember there was a bit of a renaissance in the late '90s when artists started covering songs like "Overkill." Stripped down, they're just good pop songs.
